February 6 – Today is Bob Marley’s 65th Birthday.

Bob Marley
Bob Marley is a worldwide legend. He is celebrated locally in Jamaica and loved internationally. The first Bob Marley song I learnt was One Love and many will admit this is the only one they know. I also know Three Little Birds because my father would always sing this one – even hum it or whistle to it. It was like a morning ritual. He would be by the side of the house near my room window working and all you hear is “Don’t Worry, about a thing.” Can I say maybe that was the wake up call.
Bob Marley’s song One Love is a staple on Jamaica’s Tourism advertisements internationally. In many parts of the world this man is idolised. Jamaicans will argue he isn’t awarded or celebrated enough because to this day some still advocate for him to be a National Hero or to be more awarded for his work. He brought Jamaican music to the world and has paved the platform for today’s musicians from Jamaica.
Imagine today we celebrate Michael Jackson’s birthday and the television networks don’t even have a feature about his life. I am sure they will have one. However, for most Jamaicans Bob Marley is just as huge (his music) and I expected to wake up to a nice Bob Marley program but there are none. I know many people are sad, I just read a tweet from a Jamaican who expressed he wants to see Bob Marley trending.
Happy Birthday to a son of Jamaica who has touched the world musically with his gifts. He will be remembered for his repertoire of songs and for bringing Jamaica’s music, reggae to the world.
Happy Birthday Bob Marley.

::shakes my twists like theyre locks::: No woman no cryyyy lol. gotta love him :]
ahh No Woman No Cry is my jam. may he forever rest in peace
AMEN…
One of very few People who fought for what the believed. He was FOR REAL. The SOLJAH who SAW THE DESTRUCTION COMING to the world. He sang “Give them an inch, they take a yard; Give them a yard, they take a mile”. We’re seeng it in oil-rich countries where people don’t wanna leave.
So many things he sang are REAL NOW. From Africa, Africans and Africanism. About needier and poor. He was one of us, with us and for us.
I’ll never miss him b’se i live with his message.
Bless Corve
65 only? yeah, he died so young… Happy Birthday, Genius!
Loved the guy Corve!
Here’s a little something for you:
Bob Marley ruled!
Bob Marley is my favorite artist ever.
Happy Birthday to a true Legend.
Thank you, CC.
Happy Birthday!
Great tribute Corve…Bob was truly one of the most talented artists of all time and is still greatly missed! And you’re right, there should be a film about his life and career. He and his wife and children were/are so very talented…and I still have a crush on his son Damian a.k.a. “Jr. Gong”
This man (the Legend Bob Marley) is on of the greatest musicians ever! Up to this day his music is out selling all other Jamaican artist combine. This is a testament to his genius something that the Jamaican people must wake up to and recognize. Jamaicans only praise people that the American’s love, Shaggy and Sean Paul did not get any attention until they exploded onto the American scene. Bob Marley should be a Jamaican Hero those who oppose this keep on talking about the negatives but every Jamaican hero has a flaw Nanny for example is a fictional figure to many, Paul Bogle murdered white and black slave drivers, Bustamante and Norman Manley may have started the political tribalism that is plaguing the Jamaica culture with violence.
Thanks for sharing great blog.
